OAKVILLE GALLERY
Art in the Garden at the Oakville Gallery. As hard as it was trying to arrange a ride out to Oakville, it was well worth the drive in the end.
Janet Cardiff created a well rounded range of an audio walk, A Large slow river, set on Lake Ontario.
"In 2000, Oakville Galleries commissioned Janet Cardiff to create an audio walk in Gairloch Gardens in Oakville, Canada. The walk, now a part of our permanent collection, takes place on an 11-acre estate on the edge of Lake Ontario. This idyllic park setting includes Gairloch Gallery, a rose garden, a couple of ponds – one with a wooden bridge – a swan pen, a sculpture garden, a teahouse, and stone breakwater along the waterfront. Geese, swans, ducks, children, dogs, seniors, tourists, and bridal parties are common sights."

The Walk was more than a walk, as I listened and followed Janet's directions, I was entrenched in a dream like state. The crisp, eerie story had me on my toes! Looking up in the air, all round me, had me jumping out of the way from the feeling of someone beside me/coming at me so fast that I couldn't take a second look before it disappeared.
For anyone that is near Oakville, Visit the Gallery and you need to do this walk!
