PACIFIC MALL
WOWI wasn't sure what to expect when I traveled to Markham, Ontario to pay a visit to the largest Chinese Mall, Pacific Mall.
I felt like I was in a maze, wasn't sure how to travel around the mall. I felt disoriented. Walking up and down, left and right, all around the mall allowing the surroundings to come familiar to me.
What to do for my projects.....
1) I had gone to the washroom and thought of one idea as I stepped out of the stall. Had gathered some toilet paper and gone up to a shoe store and had placed the toilet paper under a heel.

2) Continuing on my journey through Pacific Mall I had come across a stage that had signs "do not enter stage" But i had gone against the plan and had video taped myself walking onto the stage. My idea of going against the plan was the enter a space that was not meant to me entered.

3) As I got familiar with my surroundings, I was able to explore the mall comfortably. Every shop I had gone to I was amazed of the similarities that each store had. Every item seemed alike, the many spices, fried food to purchase all looked the same in my eyes. Which store do you go to to get the best product!? I had photographed barrels that had dried ginger. The abundance of the ginger was mind boggling, why do we need so much of this spice, why did every store seem to have the same item up for sale?, where do you go for the best kind?

That was my experience at Pacific Mall, Although being looked at strangely during my stay at the mall I had never experienced such a disorientation as I did when I walked through the Mall. I felt out of place, lost, and culturally shocked. But overall I do recommend a visit to Pacific Mall!
