My Impact

Everyday we walk to get somewhere. It is unbelievable how many surfaces a person can cover in a day, a week, a month, a year to a lifetime.
I had documented using photography that very thing, all the surfaces that I had traveled on in a week. Using a multiple shutter release, I had captured over 2000+ images of my travel; including: hardwood, tables, benches, carpet, concrete, asphalt, grass, indoor/outdoor surfaces etc.

After working on this project, I had thought hard on the impact we leave on this earth in our lifetime. The many surfaces we travel on to see things, experience new wonders, without our feet we would not be able to travel as freely as we do and experience those many wonders as we do. When we had a guest speaker come talk to our class, discussing her difficulty in trying to get around because of her walking disability. It never crossed my mind how difficult it really must be to not be able to walk freely through the world. We take fore granted the abilities we have, the ability to walk around anywhere on any surface we can possibly choose to walk on. And that is exactly what I had done, Walked on many surfaces taking quick snap shots of my feet as they travel across these many different surfaces.

At first I had chosen to leave the audio out of my video, But when I had presented to the class i chose to include audio. Unfortunately, not received well with the audio, from what I thought was a fun and upbeat song but at the same time one of those annoying commercial songs that stick with a person all day. It really confused the dominance of the video, whether it was the audio or the video you are suppose to pay attention to. In the end I feel that the Video is best perceived without the audio. When the video is seen alone It really shows the many surfaces we travel, and how many more we can travel, and do travel.

Let me know what you think of the video! thanks for watching! :)

Think about how many surfaces you walk on each and everyday, now think about how many items we handle within a day. The impact we have on our surroundings can be minute, but in the long run have we considered the effects it may have?
